------------------------------------------------------- About this work This was part of my solo show Assemblage at the Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg in 2011. This painting shows a collection of three unrelated objects. It is more about the study of the objects than the objects themselves. The glass bottle has its lid removed and placed next to it — it is broken down into its component parts. With the lid removed, the bottle also invites inspection inside, although of course the bottle lies beyond the painted surface and so can never be reached. The pomegranate is cut in half, so a more complete view of the object is presented: both the outside surface and the inner contents are shown. The skull is angled to give a more comprehensive view of its structure.
